The Adventures of Team Stewart.
Current population;
two very sleep deprived parents, one spunky first grader, a fearless little brother, and an ever changing assortment of pets, livestock, and boats.
It only took me 12 years to figure out that Elan knows how to ski!! As for myself, well...it turns out it's not like riding a bike (which I'm also not so great at), so I got to learn all about the wonderful Stewart family tradition of skillfully swishing to a stop and spraying snow all over the rookie who has crash landed. Apparently I have Josh to thank for this trick?
Even with me spending most of the time on my rear, we got a few good runs in while the boys played with Auntie Em, Leon and Roger.
Nap time came very suddenly in the middle of a car race.
We stayed in a "Bring Your Sense of Humor" rental. The above photo is the entrance........yes, really. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that it was also a BYOP situation. (That's: Bring Your Own Propane) so we skipped the fireplace and hot showers for the weekend. Luckily our upstairs neighbors DID remember to bring their Dance Dance Revolution game which they enjoyed very much until 3:00am both nights.
Elan and Drake going from our cabin to the car the graceful way.
Here is your handy guide to the many Drakisms that make life on Bell Street a constant riddle:

Suddenly Popo finds herself the Grandma of 3!! Marti got to meet Gorgeous Grace last night. Gracie makes a certain other new baby look like the Incredible Hulk.
We just booked a vacation!! Sunshine and sandy beaches, here we come! Elan just found out that he's being sent to Honolulu for training, so he'll spend a week here:
Then the boys and I will join him for a week here:
So cool! Can't wait to show Ewan what sunshine looks like. Poor kid only knows about rain and snow, so far! And of course, Drake the super traveler is sooo excited about a plane ride and sleeping in a TRUCK!! And looking for turtles!! And fish!! Yippee!!
I wonder if Drake lays in bed at night wondering if mommy is just going through a phase, or if all 34 year olds are this difficult.
I think his new strategy in dealing with mommy's silly phase where she tries to set limits is to head off the conflict before it can happen. Today he threw a car across the room, put it into "toy time out" and then came to tell me that he was putting himself to bed......
For Drakes big 3rd birthday, we went sledding at Snoqualmie Pass.
It was pretty cold; well below the freezing point of cupcakes!

The grand finale....I guess this means it was a fun time...I'm realizing now as I post this that the first instinct of a truly good parent would probably not be to reach for the video camera during a tantrum of this magnitude ....oops.
And I didn't even manage to shoot it right-side up....but you get the idea. It was an impressive and articulate tantrum. Good endurance too.
