Bikes, Countdowns and Camping

Tonight seemed like another good night for backyard camping.

Just one more week on the chalkboard vacation countdown:

7-Big Island
6-Kahoolawe
5-Maui
4-Lanai
3-Spy Hop Humpback
2-Honu
1-Molokai!!!

This morning we checked out the Tacoma Bike Swap and scored this beauty for the Mommy.
Sears Roebuck.
3 gears.
Just my speed.

Hello?

What IS this thing, anyway?

Today the boys decided it was WAY past time for Aunt Emily to check out the Children's Museum.

It was fantastic (as always), even though it was also WAY past nap time.

Spring (finally)

We've been enjoying some really great warm sunny days!

This one is a little hard on his golf clubs -better warn the Molokai Pro Shop (I mean, shipping container).

The countdown for our return to the Friendly Isle has started....
Just one shave ice, a whale spout, 8 islands, and one Honu left until we head across the ocean again (the easy way).

Adventure Karma

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew there would be a price to pay for dragging Elan across the Pacific Ocean in a very small boat.

Here it is:
The Wonderland Trail:
A 93 mile circumnavigation of Mt. Rainier.

I'm going to need some better shoes.

Cousins!

This week we had Cousin Mason over for Sunday Dinner (yes, it's a family name).

Mason's grandma is Mima's cousin Janie.....so....the boys are.....3rd cousins?

Whatever the relationship, they all clearly share the same genetic code for Growly Noises.

Mason's Daddy, Jake is an excellent baby tosser.

Divide and Conquer

Today seemed like the sort of day where, with a well planned and executed attack, the boys were very likely to get the better of us.
So we split up for two very different adventures:

Ewan headed downtown for flashy cars, loud noises and pretty girls at the Daffodil Parade,

(Parade Grand Marshals: Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny, of course.)

Meanwhile, Drake opted for some peace and quiet in the woods.

Easter Island

Drake's first question on Easter morning was "Where does the Easter Bunny live?"

It took a bit of research, because The Bunny is pretty secretive (he has to be, to protect that cave full of chocolate eggs, you know) but we're pretty sure that the entrance to his Top Secret Warren is on Easter Island (duh).

Now D wants to sail a boat to Easter Island.

Gracie and Henry both had very pretty Easter dresses.

This picture pretty much sums up the difference between Grace and Ewan.

Girl Trouble

Yesterday, the boys met Sundis, the 8 year old daughter of my best friend from elementary school.

Drake and Sundis were instant friends (JUST like Mommy and Heidi).

Unfortunately, when Sundis came back for a quick visit this morning, Ewan (the outgoing one) monopolized her, and D had a bit of a meltdown.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is not the last time these boys will run into this particular difficulty....

Yum

Today our finicky little chef proposed "French Toast Waffles".

Very creative for such a persnickety eater (different foods touching each other?!) and every bit as yummy as it sounds!

Shenanigans

We had a great visit from The Pope this week -

We played at the Children's Museum,

Had The "BEST rocket fight EVER!!"

Cruised the Aquarium,

And had a fantastic fishy Sunday Dinner feast - Sockeye baked in salt; YUM.
