The Adventures of Team Stewart.
Current population;
two very sleep deprived parents, one spunky first grader, a fearless little brother, and an ever changing assortment of pets, livestock, and boats.
Mima bought a CSA share from a tiny little farm in Puyallup (the town just east of us). We went with her to pick up the first week's box of yummy veggies, and scored with a big bag of Kale* so we got to make our favorite snack: Green Food.**
Here's how it's done:
Rinse,
Dry,
Cut into chip sized pieces and splash on some olive oil, salt and pepper,
Bake: 350 for 25-30 minutes (until crispy)
EAT!
*Almost the name of son #2. **For anyone brushing up on their Drake-isms; this is the ORIGINAL Green Food, not seaweed, which is NEW Green Food.
Drake has always had a bit of an issue with the "Happy Birthday" song (on his second birthday he screamed bloody murder until we stopped singing) so the "No, no, no, whale, whale, whale" song is a little something he made up to sing instead. Happy Birthday POPE!
"Slide Fishing": 1. Carry fishing pole to the top of the slide 2. Cast out into the yard 3. Catch fish 4. Reel it in 5. Slide down to "the beach" 6. Cut up and cook fish 7. Serve to Mommy and Little Brother.
And "chalking":
It's always better to do these kinds of things in your jammies and rain boots, of course.
Mima and Drake cruise the neighborhood in style. Don't worry, he always rides sitting down, but has become a bit of a poser and thought he looked much cooler standing up.
Drake got a fancy new helmet, so Ewan got a hand-me-down. I'm considering making him wear it all the time, since he insists on acting like a mini Evil Kneivel.
Or, more commonly; the staging area for all Stewart expeditions:
The pile under the piano is getting ready for Guys Week at the Enchantments.
Yes, this does sound suspiciously like a strip club, but is actually an amazing wilderness area in the Cascades accessible only by permits won in a yearly lottery. (cool!!)
The pile on the table is getting ready for a trip to Bellingham to entertain Grandpa who is recovering from surgery and needs a little distraction (that's what we're best at!)
The backpack by the easel is performing a decompression stop on it's way from Snoqualmie to the basement (can't descend too fast, you know!)
