TRAIN!

On Sunday, we took a ride on the Mt Rainier steam train with Mima.

It was a little scary at first.

But once we got onboard, Ewan told
EVERYONE what a train says:
"CHOO-CHOO!"

A train is a great place for a nap.

Luau

Saturday was a party for sailing buddy Kate's graduation from nursing school.
This is how you dress for a luau in Seattle - long underwear + hawaiian shirt:

We have coop envy after seeing this chicken palace!

As always, hanging out with Kate and John gets us dreaming of far away places, sandy beaches, and $1.00 beer.

Even the reminders of torn sails, broken bilge pumps, cracked toilet bowls, and snapped halyards seem like adventure nine years later....

Our favorite hangout in Barra de Navidad.

Boats

Last week we took a backyard boat ride
(that means water on the INSIDE of the boat instead of the OUTSIDE).
Then zipped over to Grandpa's new place in Lakebay for a REAL boat ride
(On the Bay, not the Lake).

That's Mt Rainier peeking over Grandpa's shoulder

A boat is a great place for a nap.

Father's Day

We spent a rainy Father's Day weekend camping at the soggy but beautiful San Juan County Park

Saturday night was a feast of SUPER fresh Westcott Bay oysters
and dry cider that we discovered at Westcott Bay Cider and Distillery.

Auntie Bess' friend Kimya stayed in the same campsite
earlier in the week,  and left a message for us!

Checking in

Aunt Emily checked in with Basecamp from her San Diego Internship Adventure.

She is staying here:

These are her roommates:

Here's where she works:

We're not sure who this guy is:

Penrose Point State Park

We spent the weekend camping at Penrose Point State Park.

Drake had his first s'more. I don't know why the life vest was necessary.

We celebrated Auntie Bess' birthday, and chased off some party crashers.
