Wonderland Day 13

End of the road!

We met up with the hikers at White River Campground on Friday night, and then they drug us all a few miles up the mountain on Saturday morning to get a little taste of the Wonderland Trail!

Wonderland Day 9

David has joined the team!
After a rough morning troubleshooting Elan's Jeep, a quick transfer to Mima's (MUCH newer) car and a wrong turn or two on the way up the hill, they have all met up at Longmire and are headed off to tonight's camp at Paradise River.

Word from the trail is that the official bear siting count is now at 4!

The boys spent yesterday evening surveying David's gear and making sure he knew how to use his trekking poles.

Wonderland Day 6

We headed up the mountain to re supply the happy hikers this weekend.

They popped out of the trail exactly on schedule. We filled them up with scrambled eggs and hot chocolate, re supplied their food stores and sent them on their way (Ewan wanted to go too).

Wildlife tally:
Bears - 0
Goats - 16
Snakes -1
Frogs - "tons"
Marmots - 1

All gear gets a thumbs up so far.

Dana's hat is the clear winner (sorry no photo yet).

They did NOT switch Elan's home made tent for the store-bought backup tent that I brought up and both claim that the tent is amazing.

Both hikers are happy with their footwear (they have matching shoes), and Dana is thrilled with her trail hairdo.

Wonderland Day 1

And they're off!
Evan drove them up the mountain and dropped them off at the trail head early Monday morning:

They left EXTENSIVE re-supply instructions for the support crew:

Tacoma

We just scored the most incredible rocking chair for our front porch!
A guy named Kevin rode past our house on an electric tricycle named Rocinante with a rocking chair strapped on the back (sorry, no picture) and paused to admire our garden.

He found the chair abandoned on a street corner and wanted to find a good home for it.

Mission accomplished, Kevin.

Wonderland Prep

This weekend was a flurry of packing, repacking, weighing, planning, sewing and food dehydration.

27 pounds

First Day

Final report:
Ewan had a good day except that he stuck his tongue out at the assistant teacher when she tried to get him to stop holding hands with a girl....
He is also not a fan of the tradition of shaking Mrs. Kirbawy's hand at the end of the day:

Frankly, I'm just thrilled that he came home in the same pants that he left in and didn't call anyone "Poopy".

No comment from Drake.
