Puggled

(that's pooped to you non-highlanders)
A certain someone has discovered his love for pipes, drums, and lovely ladies dressed in tartan.

Caber toss, anyone?

Ewan preps for the highland games by chewing on Tupperware.

Don't ask me why.

For some strange reason I have a feeling that tossing logs in the air is going to be right up this guy's alley.

Sprayground

One of the best things about Tacoma is the "sprayground".
(the other one is the new frozen yogurt place...we hit both today with Popo)

Signs

And of course, there was one of these right outside the hotel:

Funny how that midnight dash up a slippery Hawaiian mountainside has made us so much aware of these signs.

Little Pickle Fish

Somehow Ewan got a new nickname this week at the beach.
Meet Pickle Fish:

Monkey Business at the beach

We've had lots of kite tangling, I mean flying,

Lots of dipping our food in sand,

And lots of Hotel Room Floor Wrestle-Mania.

Foggy Soggy Day

What a perfect day to go to the beach (ha ha)!
If we Washingtonians let a little soggy weather get in our way, we would never get anything done....

This seems like a great opportunity for a little lesson on Pacific Northwest weather.

When you see a report like this:

you might think that it is telling you to expect a 20% chance of rain today in Seaside.

Not true.

Things work a little differently here in the great PNW.

What this report is ACTUALLY telling us, is that today there is a 100% chance that it will rain for 20% of the day.

So the boys and I are packing our rain gear and our beach toys and heading to Seaside to join Carol and JJ for a couple of days on the beach. In the rain.

Bathtime

After his speedy exit into a less than fresh bath 8 months ago, Ewan decided that bathing is horrible and unnecessary. Last night, with the help of Big Brother, he changed his mind and realized that even the very best, most stinky pirates bathe occasionally.

Yes, it IS harder than it looks. And sooooooo FUN!

Good Question

Drake and I just had a long discussion about Cuttlefish (mostly about whether or not we would like one for breakfast). Just when I thought we had exhausted that subject and gotten in a pretty decent marine biology lesson, he had one last question:
"Which end is the cuddly end?"

Sleepy Cousins

Drake and Ewan invited Baby Grace and 14 month old Esther over to play on the 4th.

These guys match like a retired couple on a cruise ship.

Ewan and Grace couldn't be more different. Gracie snuggles quietly in laps, smiling sweetly and keeping her pink sox nice and clean, while Ewan is in constant motion and is usually just seconds away from stuffing a handful of rocks in his mouth or falling off of something tall.

Wheels!

Mr. Move-it scored at the consignment store today. We ditched the baby swing that he learned how to tip over months ago and came home with wheels.

Oh boy.

Drake was never allowed to have things like this because we were afraid he would fall off the lighthouse.
