Protest

I'm not really much of an activist, but something in the news this week got me ticked off, and I decided to stage a protest.

What could possibly have her so fired up, you wonder?

Nuclear meltdown?
Nigerian election results?
National debt?
Donald Trump?
Sleepy air-traffic controllers?

Nope.
Nail polish.
Seriously.

In case you missed it, here's the story:

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/04/11/jcrew-ad-showing-boy-pink-nail-polish-sparks-debate-gender-identity/

The thought that the color of my boys' toes might effect their relationship choices later (much, much later) in life is just silly.

So I ran out to the health food store to find some dibutyl phthalate free pink nail polish.

Eventually I realized that making the boys paint their toes pink was exactly the opposite point that I needed to make. So I painted my right foot pink hoping that Drake would think it was AWESOME, and ask to have his done too. Then I got distracted with diapers and naps and whatever. Eventually Drake noticed, and with a very skeptical look, asked "Mommy, WHAT did you DO?"
I asked if he wanted his done, and he said "NOOOOOOOOO"

Ewan did want his toes painted, but I told him that even though the polish came from the health food store, it probably shouldn't go in his mouth.

So here I am with one pink foot, preaching to the choir of five or so people that already would have happily let them paint their toenails pink.

This is why I'm not much of an activist.

At least now they know that there is pink nail polish available if the fancy strikes.
